Matteo is doing really well at daycare now, he is really enjoying it and the comments from his caregivers say as much. We've been having some nice days with lots of laughs, some reading, fun bath times, and a little boy who goes right to sleep. I hope that next week I'll have a bit of time to consider any travel plans for later in the spring and summer. Work has been busy as we've had a number of projects that have all been juggled at the same time and are now near completion. Tomorrow we're having a business breakfast meeting and then a debriefing meeting to discuss the last few weeks, and the projects, before going on to new ones. I am really enjoying the work, though it has been challenging to juggle some deadlines with Matteo's illnesses, as well as getting all the paperwork done for the second adoption, as well as Matteo's six month report that is due soon....but it has all been working out.
For now I am looking forward to planning a small party for Matteo's second birthday at the end of May, where we'll also celebrate his official name change!!

ReplyDeleteI love the photos of the Matteo with the cats! The one with him and the one cat eating, and then the one with the three cats patiently waiting for their treats. They are pretty lucky cats to have such a cute little guy love them so much. It looks like they really get along well together. Glad to hear your paperwork is going well for adoption #2. How long do you think it will take to complete this adoption?

Hi Elizabeth, Thanks for your message...yes we've had ups and downs with the cats...they hide out in the basement esp. when Matteo is making lots and lots of noise....but yes as the photos show there are definitely moments of bonding!! ...Yes paperwork, I think, is going well. My sw was going to work on my file today so hopefully she'll let me know if I'm missing anything as I think my part is mostly done? As for timelines, as I mentioned I am going the special needs route, and the agency said something like 18 months I think...though they try not to commit....but it will be, if it happens, shorter than the regular route, they say. I'm not sure if I don't want to get my hopes up, or if I am really just more relaxed and accepting of whatever happens happens??...but I definitely can "feel" Matteo being a big brother, so am hoping it all works...I prayed to see if there was another child who was meant for our lives and the new job and the new subsidized daycare spot, were pivotal to my feeling that I should pursue this...though of course, there is still so much uncertainty with the whole process in Vietnam.....Anyhow hope your process is going well too....!!
DeleteYou must have better daycare in Ontario than we do out here. It is the hardest thing for parents to find, especially for infants to under threes. We have very little subsidy here! Best of luck with your second journey.
