Matteo the builder.....

A few weeks ago I saw this workbench on a facebook friend's wall and thought it would also be the perfect gift for Matteo. He likes banging and building so while I hunted it down, coincidentally Matteo started asking to watch the Bob the Builder cartoon series.  His two television favourites up until then were Thomas the Train and Caillou...he is branching out, to Max and Ruby, Toopy and Binou, Franklin, Everything's Rosie and now Bob the Builder.

We are still having issues around television still, as in, he wants to watch it all the time, and I am trying to monitor it and also make sure he plays with other toys....etc.  So my interest in getting him the workbench and his interest in the show have meshed nicely and he is playing more with his tool toys than he is wanting to watch the program. Not sure how long it will last; however, was grateful for that switch.  Here are a few photos taken the day he came home and saw it.

  1. Oh my goodness, so cute! I love the intense look of concentration on his face as he was working away! Screen time seems to be such a challenge for so many parents these days, either TV or other electronic devices. I recently saw a family out for brunch and all five people, parents and kids, were plugged in to something different even with food on the table. Does Matteo have a marble run? He might be a little young still, but if you kept the marbles up high for supervised play, I bet he could build a run. I got a Discovery Toys marble run for school, later my own little one if it happens now, for $20 off Craig's List and I think they are $65 from the catalog. I admire and respect your desire to limit screen time. I'd be just the same!

    1. Thanks Elizabeth, I keep trying...at times television is a convenient babysitter especially when I'm sick...as a single parent it is one of the challenges esp. when your child at times wants all of your attention and you have to get yourselves ready for your day....anyhow I will look into the marble run, never heard of it? Hope you are doing well!!
