…baby boy!…..(I will explain the rabbits in another post) but for now, yes I have accepted the referral of a little boy born in January. He just celebrated his 5 month birthday…he is so little and so young….I have named him Malio Dinh (after my mom whose name was Amalia, male version Amalio)…one meaning of this name is 'brave'. His middle name is already Dinh which means 'peace'.
B. I did get the referral the day after your sightings of dragonflies but did need to get a medical consult as per my sw's recommendation…as this is a special needs adoption all and as much medical information available is very helpful…That hurdle has been jumped and I/we are moving forward and can say so publicly now…the downside sadly is that we might have to wait 10 -12 months for travel to go and get him…..I pray that this all works out (as somehow it seems more uncertain than with Matteo) and that Malio is able to join our family sooner rather than later!
There are many emotions but definitely this feels different than the first time, it feels calmer and more peaceful for sure and I'm hoping I'll be able to ride that wave of calmness and peace right to the G&R ceremony.
When I first told Matteo, his reaction was that he wanted a sister. I too was a bit surprised as I somehow did expect a little girl though I had not made a choice with the home study. Like with Matteo it seems there are many who want to adopt little girls so if you don't specify, chances are you'll get a boy.
For now we are beginning to share our news and are slowly adding Malio to our conversations, to our plans, and especially to our hearts. Here is a little peek…...

Dragonflies are hovering…...
…and that is all I will say.
We've had an especially busy weekend. Matteo has so much energy and it is amazing how much he is changing and how much he is challenging. It is an especially busy time at work, with three teaching days left, and marking and final grades to post. It is an especially stressful time, though joyful as a semester ends; however, have definitely found myself short tempered where Matteo is concerned….lots of emotions swirling too….so I am hopeful for some calmer seas ahead and some long awaited news…..
This morning we started our day with wishing Happy Father's day to Matteo's birth father and Happy Father's day to my dad! While Matteo still doesn't understand what that means, for now he is happy to sort of understand that there is a birth father somewhere in Vietnam. I hope that should he be thinking of Matteo that somehow he knows he is safe and loved.
