We were going to meet with our adoption agency rep. today but have changed that to Sunday. If all goes well I will be meeting my daughter on Monday and Matteo his sister. Matteo was anxious to go right away and talks about Malia all the time. I am trying to help him prepare for the fact that he may think he knows her from her photos and video…but really we will be strangers to her. Not sure how much of that makes sense to him.
Matteo was great on our travels….other than one incident on the first flight where mommy learned about bathrooms and children…saved all concerned…the rest of our trip went well. He stayed awake until our international flight….which left at 1:45 a.m. - not sure how he did it…but we all managed to get some sleep on the overnight flight to Hong Kong….he woke up twice, once when mommy was trying to reposition him because she wasn't comfortable and a second time on his own…he cried a bit and then went right to sleep…the television on the plane really helped for sure when he was awake…some thomas, some sponge bob and some dora…the spongebob was a real hit and when Matteo was wired at the end of our last flight to hcmc, he kept laughing and saying in a loud voice - spongebob square pants and laughing, laughing…no matter how we tried to get him to not be as loud,…didn't help….and I'd like to know who designs these children's meals offering a chocolate chip muffin??? Well maybe other kids don't react the same when they're tired, and on a sugar high!!
Anyhow Matteo is a great traveller for sure and did remarkably well….I found I was the one that was not as patient…lots of worries about the still plague me about the adoption, though know this is normal. All the uncertainty of transitions for the most part….I know it doesn't help when I'm feeling especially tired….Even Matteo is starting to ask questions about the transition…but even with his fears he's looking forward to his sister joining our family. We are scheduled to go to the orphanage on Monday and spend the day. I hope on Monday we may have more information regarding the G&R when L. speaks to the director. There may be an issue that will delay the G&R from our hoped for date, but we are praying that somehow it will all work out positively.
….for now here are a few photos of our first full day at the hotel and Matteo enjoying what it has to offer….

Je suis contente de voir que Matteo a fait le voyage en avion ! C,est tellement long aller là bas !
Bye bye xxx
So glad you are settling in and Matteo being such a trooper! He will be a terrific big brother, so protective I am sure. Thanks for all the updates. Keep us all posted.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Elizabeth
